ZZK RECORDS is a homegrown record label and artist collective born out of the ZIZEK CLUB nights in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Exploring urban, global sounds with electronic music production, ZZK Records is blending the old with the new, fusing ideas, mashing continents and maximizing technology to bring Latin American music into the 21st Century with a bass that goes boom. Since exploding on the scene in 2008 with their first compilation, ZZK Sound Vol. 1 – Cumbia Digital, the label has been on a tear, putting out numerous LPs, EPs, mixtapes and playing more than 60 shows in 35 cities in 18 months including SXSW, Coachella, Roskilde, Trans Musicales de Rennes and other prestigious festivals around the world. Fauna comes direct from the foothills of the Andes where Catar_sys and Color Kit brew their particular strain of digital cumbia, morphing the traditional rhythm into jungle-cumbia infused with dancehall, IDM, and drum & bass. At home in Mendoza wine country, the duo found their idyllic surroundings to be ideal terrain for a ragga-inflected cumbia record. Fauna - ZZK Records El Remolón is the alterego of Andrés Schteingart, a producer who tucks hints of Latin American rhythms like cumbia into a solid base of electronic music. After ten years in the Buenos Aires music scene producing minimal techno and IDM under the pseudonym Drole, El Remolón or “the lazy one,” evolved creating mediumtempo tracks that make great use of space. His sound is laid-back but heavy-hitting with a European dance floor sensibility. Schteingart´s strength is in his own evolution as a producer, code-switching minimal techno into the dialect of minimal cumbia. The artist borrows off-center audio from exotic sources, streaming innovation and rebirth through his first full-length, Pibe Cosmo. El Remolon - ZZK Records     El G - ZZK Records from ZZK Records El G grew out of Buenos Aires. Grant C Dull, first came to Argentina in 1999 and reinvented himself more than once, going from musicologist and online magazine editor, to visual artist for events and finally to curator and DJ. He founded the bilingual cultural website WhatsUpBuenosAires.com, and co-founded ZZK Records and Zizek Club with his Argentine partners. El G the DJ continues to evolve bringing new sounds of digital cumbia, electro-reggaeton, kuduro and Andean folklorico among other sound mutations to the decks. He peppers his sets with live percussion, collaborates with his peers on stage and brings his unique vision of global music and culture to the arts community at large.
